The two parties were working from a draft contract and the Council’s motion approved that contract with four amendments, to take effect March 15.
The contract will probably not be made public until March 15, according to City Council Member Michael Williams.
Williams, in a phone interview, said he could not discuss the contract, which has not been formally signed by both parties. “Certain things need to be done first,” he said, “like taking inventory.”
The City put out a Request for Proposals about six months ago and only Spirit Golf responded. Richard Holcomb and Todd Barranger formed the company to submit the proposal.
They were in the midst of purchasing Picacho Hills Country Club and golf course in Las Cruces at the time, which has since closed. Picacho Hills will share membership privileges and hold mutual golf competitions with Sierra del Rio.
