Rio Grande, T or C
There is something foreboding about this well-composed closeup of rapids, taken in mid-October. The ice-white color of the water foretells the approach of winter, and the subdued tones of the rocks look hypothermic.
Don’t overlook the smaller still life within the larger still life. A delicate frond clings to the dark stone in the center of the image. Like so many Americans right now, it is struggling to stay above water.
